North Hudson Sewerage Authority honored with industry awards for energy savings and forward thinking

Hoboken, NJ., April 10, 2018
— The Association of Environmental Authorities recently honored the North Hudson Sewerage Authority with two Wave Awards for their excellence in energy saving and forward thinking. AEA Wave Awards recognize excellence in the public water, wastewater, recycling, and solid waste sector in New Jersey.

Over the past year, the NHSA made large strides in leak detection in the Authority’s combined sewer systems resulting in a reduction of water flow by 20 percent and saving more than $100,000 in electricity each year. These accomplishments earned them the Energy Saver Wave Award.

The Authority also took on three projects; an asset management program, creation of a waterbody advisory system, and the installation of new wet weather pump station that earned them the Forward Thinking Award. The addition of these programs ensure that the Authority can respond quickly and accurately to situations that impact the public and the environment.

Both Wave Awards were presented to the North Hudson Sewerage Authority during AEA’s annual recognition luncheon in Atlantic City.
