Union City Sewer System Rehabilitation And Roadway Restoration (Milling And Paving)

Sewer lining work 

This work does not involve digging in the streets but does limit sewer for homes located on the sewer line where works is ongoing usually 8 or 10 hours.

Open cut sewer repairs

These are four additional areas where open cut repairs were recently completed. The plan is to allow for a little additional settlement prior to milling and paving. We would like to complete this work be the end of October.

1. Intersection of Bergenline Ave and Tournade Ln (east side) – curb restoration required as well

2. 25th Street between West Street and Bergenline Ave

3. 26th Street between New York Ave and Palisade Ave

4. 47th Street between Hudson Ave and Broadway (east of Brown St) Wednesday - August 30, 2023:

Milling and paving

Thursday - August 31, 2023:

Paving of the following locations:

1. 27th Street between JFK Blvd and Summit Avenue

2. 27th Street between Palisades to New York Avenue 

3. 29th Street and Bergenline Avenue

4. 25th Street West Street to dead end

Additional work areas

Lining was recently completed on 7th Street and West Street. Cliffside Paving will excavate down the sink hole backfill with DGA and permanently patch the location.

Lining being completed on 500 block of 10th Street today, once completed the sinkhole will be excavated down and backfilled with DGA. Milling and paving will be completed in October.

!5th Street and Palisades Avenue Cliffside Paving will complete the repair of the catch basin lateral causing the sinkhole and milling and paving completed in October.

700 Block of 27th Street this sinkhole is scheduled as part of the next large sewer rehabilitation project schedule to bid this fall. Please note that numerous small sinkhole were identified over the gas main on that block and PSE&G should correct those issues prior to future milling and paving.
