About the CSO Community Advisory Board (CAB)
Who We Are
The CSO Community Advisory Board (CAB) is a team of dedicated community members serving as a vital link between the public and the North Hudson Sewerage Authority (NHSA). Our mission is to foster public engagement, increase awareness of water quality issues, and promote solutions to address Combined Sewer Overflows (CSOs) through open communication and collaboration.
What We Do
Environmental Stewardship: We are passionate advocates for protecting the environment and believe in the ethical responsibility to care for our shared natural resources.
Education & Outreach: We share information about NHSA’s Long-Term Control Plan (LTCP) to reduce CSOs and improve the Hudson River’s water quality.
Community Engagement: CAB encourages community participation and provides insight into how residents can support NHSA’s green initiatives and ongoing efforts to protect water resources.
Regular Meetings: The team meets regularly to discuss water quality concerns, community feedback, and strategies to foster environmental awareness and stewardship.
Our role is to facilitate dialogue and exchange ideas to build stronger partnerships between NHSA and the community for a healthier, more sustainable environment.
What We Are Not
The CSO Community Advisory Board is solely focused on fostering collaboration and public awareness. We are not:
A Political Platform: We are non-partisan and do not serve as a vehicle for advancing political interests.
A Vendor Referral Service: Our work does not involve facilitating paid opportunities for vendors.
An Employment Opportunity: CAB participation is a volunteer role and does not lead to employment at NHSA.
Why Join or Engage with CAB?
We believe that as community members, we have a moral obligation to protect the health of our infrastructure and, most importantly, the Hudson River. By engaging with CAB, you can be part of a group dedicated to environmental stewardship and water quality improvement in our region. Together, we can create a cleaner, greener future for generations to come.
