NHSA Newark and Observer Sewer Rehabilitation - Construction and Traffic Management Activities 07/29/2024 through 08/02/2024
Anticipated Construction Activities and Traffic Management for the NHSA Newark and Observer Sewer Rehabilitation project for the period of 07/29/2024 through 08/02/2024 is as follows:
Work Zone 1 (North side of the Median)
Construction Activities: Tuesday 7/30 (8 AM – 4 PM)
The Contractor will perform trench restoration with temporary pavement in both the road and the sidewalk
Traffic Control
The Contractor will utilize the same traffic control plan that is currently set up.
No thru traffic on Newark Street between Adams and Madison St.
West bound truck traffic to be detoured to Clinton St.
East Bound Truck Traffic to be detoured to Madison St.
Hoboken PD stationed at Madison and Adams to assist with traffic control.
VMS sign install at Madison St and Adams St.
Work Zone 2 (South Side of the Median)
Construction Activities: Wednesday 7/31 Thursday 8/1 (8 AM – 4 PM) and Friday 8/2 (8 Am – 1PM)
The Contractor will be performing test pits within Work zone 2 (south of the median) at Observer Highway and Henderson Street.
Once test pits are complete The Contractor will perform trench restoration with temporary pavement.
Steel plates will be reinstalled over the existing sewer.
Traffic Control
No thru traffic (east and west bound) on Observer Highway at Henderson Street.
Westbound truck traffic to be detoured to Washington Street.
Truck traffic cannot be detoured to Henderson Street due to bridge clearance south of the intersection.
All other westbound traffic to be detoured to Henderson Street.
All Eastbound traffic shall be detoured to Madison Street.
VMS Boards will be placed at Madison Street and Willow Ave.
Hoboken PD will assist with Officers at Madison, Willow and Washington.
The Contractor will attempt to maintain westbound access for trucks only in the event they miss the detours at Washington and Willow.
