Adams Street Wastewater Treatment Plant Influent Force Main and Siphon Repair - Week of March 31st

Project Overview
The North Hudson Sewerage Authority (NHSA) is undertaking an infrastructure rehabilitation project at the Adams Street Wastewater Treatment Plant to enhance safety, reliability, and efficiency. This project will upgrade aging systems, extend the lifespan of critical infrastructure, reduce maintenance needs, and improve service for the community.

Key Phases & Timeline

  • Late February – Contractor mobilization at Park Avenue Siphon Chamber

  • Early April – Completion of siphon rehabilitation

Work Period & Location

  • Week of March 31st

  • Intersection of Park Avenue and JFK Blvd East, Weehawken

Description of Work

  • Installation of a 24-inch gate valve

  • Activation of the Park Avenue Siphon Chamber

Traffic Information

  • Road Closures: None

  • Parking Restrictions: None

  • Detours: Traffic will be reduced to a single lane in each direction during active construction.

  • Police Presence: Yes, provided by the Township of Weehawken

Community Impacts

  • Noise/Disruptions: Expect heavy equipment noise due to excavation and chamber work.

  • 3/27/25 work continues to test the 12” siphon which will be used to bypass flow; active construction may resume at the Park Avenue location
