Madison St. Area Infrastructure Improvements
STAGE 2 CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITY SCHEDULE: December 9th, 2024 – April 14th, 2025
Anticipated Overall Project Construction Schedule: October 2024 – May 2025
The Purpose of This Project:
The Madison Street Area Infrastructure Improvements project has been undertaken to mitigate localized flooding from rain events. To accomplish this, the project scope includes replacing existing inlets and sewer lines as well as elevating roadways, curbs, and sidewalks within the area. Ultimately, these improvements will alleviate the primary concerns by conveying the stormwater into the sewer system. Work to include:
Pile foundation installation to support utility lines such as sewer and water pipes.
Repaving all roadway construction and trench excavations.
Restoration of the construction site including full depth roadway reconstruction, as well as new sidewalks and street scape elements.
Traffic control will be coordinated with various projects in the surrounding area. Parking is to be restricted and road closures with detours is to be expected. To mitigate the traffic impacts from this closure, the flow of traffic on 11th Street between Jefferson St. and Monroe St. will be reversed during the construction period. Traffic on 11th Street currently travels in an easterly direction. Effective 8AM on Tuesday, January 14, 2025 the traffic will be reversed to flow in a westerly direction. Hoboken Police will be assisting with traffic coordination during this transition.

Anticipated Construction Schedule:
Contractor will install new watermain and sanitary sewer on Madison St from 10th St to 11th St from December to April 2025. Below, you will see the estimated time frames for such work to commence and conclude, ultimately being subject to change. Restoration of roadways and sidewalks is expected to occur during the spring of 2025.
